The monthly average Peso-Dollar Exchange Rate went down to 46.421 in December from 47.032 in November.

Foreign Exchange Liabilities have declined by 1.3 percent from US$53,856 million in 2008 to US$53,135 million.

The year-on-year headline inflation rate advanced to 4.4 percent in December from 2.8 percent in November. The average annual headline inflation rate for the year 2009 was 3.2 percent, slower by 6.1 percentage points than the 9.3 percent in 2008. Meanwhile, core inflation rate picked up to 3.2 percent in December from 2.7 percent in November. The annual average core inflation rate was 4.1 percent in 2009, lower than the 6.2 percent in 2008.

The Value of Production Index (VaPI) improved by 5.5 percent in September 2009. On the other hand, the Volume of Production Index (VoPI) modestly expanded by 6.5 percent.
